Spreadin The Groove Across The Globe

Latest Update: 1/8/2003 (To see the previous site updates, check out the Site Updates Archive page).

Happy New Year Everyone! The site has gotten more that 1,000 visitors now! I hope everyone's holiday season was as enjoyable as mine was. As many of you know, I got to go see all 4 of Phish's return shows and they were quite enjoyable. Groovatron's manager Jeff joined us out in New York for the New Year's show so I got the lowdown on alot of what the band is up to these days.

Basically, be prepared for Groovatron to continue their rigorous touring schedule throughout at least the first half of 2003 as the band plans to continue to play numerous shows throughout the midwest and southern U.S. They plan to continue visiting many college towns and increasing their fan base. One major development Jeff informed of was that the band will have a show at Bloomington, Indiana's Bluebird Bar which is the best bar for live music down in Bloomington. Let's hope it goes well and they will get to continue playing there. The date hasn't been announced yet for sure but be sure to let anyone you know at Indiana University know about the show when the date does come out so that the boys get a good turnout in B-town!

I added setlists through 12/14/2003 and should be getting the most current setlists through the end of the year and the start of 2003 any day now! Check out the setlists from early September as there were some absolutely sick shows the band played over the first 2 weeks of December. Looks like the boys have been writing some new tunes as well! I'm hoping some of these were taped and that I can get my hands on live versions of the shows. We'll see!

I did get to see the band in late December in Chicago for a show very near my home and it was great! Well, at least what I remember of it was great as I was far beyond inebriated that evening. The band and lots of friends came by my place both before and after the show and we had a great time partying hard.

I'll be attending the Groovatron show on 1/22/2003 in Evanston, IL which I am looking forward to very much. I really want to hear some of these new tunes the band has written.

If you are interested in getting live Groovatron shows, please E-mail me. I'm starting a Groovatron live show trading tree. Once we get enough people I will e-mail everyone and we'll start distributing shows to everyone. If you are unfamiliar with a trading tree concept don't worry, I will explain everything to you.

Also, I know quite a few people had e-mailed me over the last month or two and I apologize for not getting back to you but I was working like 80 hours a week at my 2 jobs. Please e-mail me again with any requests for shows or to be a part of the live music trading tree.

Along the lines of the live music trading tree, just so everyone understands, all you need to have to be a part of this is the capability to burn CD's. You don't have to have taped a show or have taping gear. Just a CD burner and a willingness to spread the music to other Groovaddicts.

I added a new poll to the site as well to see how many hardcore fans we've got out there!

Site updates will be more frequent now that the holiday season has passed so be sure to check back often and also e-mail me if you have any ideas for things you'd like to see added to the site or suggested improvements! Peace.

Latest Update: 12/11/2002 (To see the previous site updates, check out the Site Updates Archive page).

Hey all, Happy Holidays! Man, this time of year is crazy. I do have a couple updates though for all the Groovaddicts out there.

I received word from the band's manager that the mid-January Colorado run was cancelled. Groovatron will be playing the midwest and South for most of the winter months. I suspect you'll see them head back out west soon afterwards though but I haven't heard anything for sure.

Exciting news out of the Groovatron camp is that the band will be playing a New Year's show up in Saugatuck, MI. Check out the Tour Dates page for all the details. Plus, there are a few additional December shows the band has added that are on the page.

Updates this week:

Latest Update: 11/13/2002 (To see the previous site updates, check out the Site Updates Archive page).

Hey all, sorry for the lack of updates the last few weeks but times have been busy for me with the upcoming holidays. I will say right now that it is likely that I won't be updating weekly during November and December due to the holiday season and work not allowing me enough time to do so but I will try to keep things as updated as possible and after New Year's I expect things will be back to normal here with weekly updates.

Well, the Halloween show was awesome! Great meeting alot of Groovaddicts out there and had fun partying with everyone. I am working on my show review from that night but in the mean time I have added show reviews from 2 other shows I went to see in October so be sure to check them out on the Show Reviews page. And remember you can Submit Your Own Show Review for a show you've been to that will be posted on the site.

Exciting news out of the Groovatron camp is that the band will be playing a New Year's show up in Saugatuck, MI. Check out the Tour Dates page for all the details. Plus, there are a few additional December shows the band has added that are on the page.

Still no official confirmation of the dates for the Colorado run in Mid-January. As far as I know it is still on and as soon as I have the dates and show information I will be sure to post them on the Tour Dates page.

Well, looks like Nick will be keeping the Mohawk! He squeaked out a narrow 19 for to 18 against victory in the initial Groovaddicts poll (but I think Nick came on here and voted for himself 19 times personally)! Anyway, a new poll is up and will likely be up until the end of November.

Just a reminder, Groovatron will be playing in Chicago on December 21st at Lakeview Links. This happens to be a few blocks from my home so the band and I are going to organize some sort of pre-party before the show. If you are interested in coming out and partying with myself and Groovatron before this show, E-mail Me. I will e-mail details about this to you.

Latest Update: 10/29/2002 (To see the previous site updates, check out the Site Updates Archive page).

Well, Groovatron's Halloween throw down here in Chicago is this Thursday! Looking forward to seeing some fellow Groovaddicts out there for the show as it should be a fun night. I'll be there and in costume!

You'll notice a new feature here on Groovaddicts. I've added a Groovatron Poll to the site. I give Nick some grief about his mohawk and decided to put up the first poll to the fans of whether Nick should keep the mohawk. Go ahead and vote. I'll probably change the poll every couple weeks. If you have any good ideas for future polls on the site, E-mail Me your suggested Poll Question.

Me and 2 buddies decided to make the trip up to Kalamazoo for the show last Saturday at the Bell's brewery, ok well it really was an excuse to go to the brewery of one of my favorite beers! Anyway, the show was great. The crowd was rather small but the band had a fun time I think and the show was very solid. I finally have setlists from some recent shows I went to and I will write reviews of those shows and post them next week when I update the site. I've just been too damn busy lately.

However, the band sent me a hilarious show review that is posted on the site on the Show Reviews page I encourage everyone to check out. It's written by someone I don't know named Adam (if you are reading this Adam please contact me so we can have you write these in the future as well). Anyway, it is quite a hilarious tale of the events of that evening.

Tons of news and updates this week!

First and most importantly, Click the link and VOTE FOR GROOVATRON TO PLAY AT BONNAROO! They've already made the first cut. Be sure to visit the site and encourage your friends to do the same and vote for Groovatron to play at next year's Bonnaroo festival.

The show Friday in Bloomington was fantastic! That bar is just the perfect venue for seeing a band like Groovatron. Fun, friendly, and oh my how cheap college towns are compared to the city! I met alot of fellow Groovaddicts and got some nice compliments on the site. It was great meeting all of you that were there (Torrie please e-mail me so we can discuss putting some of that Groovatron artwork you've done up on the site).

The show was fantastic and I will likely post a review sometime this week when I have a little more time but I can tell you the highlights for me were an awesome Erotic > Hey You >Erotic > Hey You in the 1st Set and my favorite Groovatron cover song Take the Skinheads Bowling in the 2nd Set. There was also a special guest who came up and played one tune with the band and it was a 1st time for Groovatron playing that song. Too keep you in suspense about what it was you'll have to wait for the show review to find out!

Some exciting news for West Coast Groovaddicts. Groovatron's manager Jeff has informed me that the band will be heading out to west to Colorado in January for two weeks worth of shows! The dates are not all confirmed yet but as soon as they are I will add all the information to the Tour Dates page.

I want to apologize to several of you who have e-mailed me in the last week or two as I have had tons of e-mail and have been super busy. However, I do want start helping all of you get your hands on live Groovatron shows. As such, I've decided to start a Groovatron Trading Tree. If you are interested in getting live Groovatron shows, please E-mail me. Don't worry if you are unfamiliar with the trading tree concept, once I get everything together I will send everyone an e-mail explaining what everyone needs to do. I will be working with the band in the coming weeks and months to get many more live shows to pass along to everyone.

Other updates this week:

Please remember that if you can help out by e-mailing setlists to me for shows you'll be attending please let me know via e-mail. Also, don't forget to submit a show review for everyone to read as well.

NO MORE BEGGING! I got my Phish New Year's ticket! Hell yeah, I'm catching the entire tour!

Latest Update: 10/16/2002 (To see the previous site updates, check out the Site Updates Archive page).

Lots of updates today. I have added all the setlists for the entire year to the Setlists Pages. These pages now have every show that Groovatron has played this past year listed on them. There are quite a few shows for which there is no known setlist at this point. If you happen to have a setlist for one of these shows, please E-mail Me the setlist and I will add it. I'm still looking for people who would be willing to e-mail me setlists of upcoming shows they plan to attend in order to get them on the site faster. I get them from the band whenever I can but they are touring quite often so updates usually come in bunches like today.

I have added 2 new articles to the In The News page. Check out a couple of great online articles plus I have posted there some recent exerpts from some print publications about Groovatron!

Added 1 newly announced November show to the Tour Dates page.

I've been talking with Groovatron's manager Jeff and he has given me the skinny on Groovatron's plans here for the rest of the year. The band will be touring throughout December and has no definite plans to go into the studio yet. I've gotten 8 confirmed tour dates thus far for December and will be adding them along with all the other December tour dates once they are confirmed and I get all the details on the shows so be sure to keep checking back. The band is going to be heading back for a brief run to the Southeast and then playing once again throughout the Midwest.

If you happen to be considering going to see Groovatron this Friday at Uncle Fester's in Bloomington, I suggest you take a look at the setlist from their last performance at that venue on 9/7/2002 which looks to be one of the craziest, sickest shows the band has played all year. That venue is fantastic and I highly recommend hitting that show if you can. I will most certainly be there!

Remember, if you go to show to Submit a Review to be published on the site!

ONE LAST PLEA: If anyone out there can hook me up with a ticket for the Phish show on New Year's at MSG I would be ever so grateful! I already have my tickets for the Hampton shows and am looking for 1 or 2 tickets for NYE still. I will burn you any shows you want from my trading list if you can hook me up and of course I'll give you cash for the ticket as well!

Latest Update: 10/14/2002 (To see the previous site updates, check out the Site Updates Archive page).

Hey all, sorry for the delay in getting an update to the site but I've been swamped for the last week or so. Anyway, I did get to see the band's show at The Brandy House in Atlanta. It was a good show but unfortunately the band got really hosed in terms of the amount of time they were allowed to play that night. The bar had 3 bands booked and each band was under the impression that they would be the headlining band that evening.

I'm not sure how it was decided but Groovatron was given the 2nd slot of the night and since the first band went over on their alloted time, the guys were cut short and only played about a 50 minute set. Granted, it was an excellent set but the crowd really wanted more I think. There was a nice crowd of maybe 50-60 people there and it was obvious that they had all come to see Groovatron play rather than the other two bands as everyone was really getting into Groovatron's set and many cleared out after they finished playing and didn't stick around for the last band.

I don't have the exact setlist for the show but Groovatron did play a new song that night that I had never heard. I spoke with Nick after the show and I think he told me it was called GPS but I'll have to confirm that one. It was a very solid rock jam that I really enjoyed. Other highlights were an amazing Fall, very jammy Outcome SOS, and the reggae funk of Hole In The Fishtank.

One other tidbit: Talked with Tony Qualls and he told me he is hoping that the band may go back to the studio early next year sometime to cut another album. Nothing definite yet but it sounds like the band is at least thinking about it at this point. I haven't seen any announced tour dates for December or beyond yet so I think they may be getting ready to take a break from their hectic touring schedule soon possibly. I'll probably get more of a chance to talk with some of the guys this weekend and get some more info on that.

Anyway, the band is back in town for a few days now so I am hoping to get setlists from all their shows down South very soon and put them up on the site. I am going to see them in Bloomington, IN this Friday which should be an excellent 2 sets of Groovatron music. I promise to try to get more updates on here in the coming weeks as I am seeing more shows.

Please remember that if you can help out by e-mailing setlists to me for shows you'll be attending please let me know via e-mail. Also, don't forget to submit a show review for everyone to read as well.

Latest News Update 10/03/2002:

I've added the Site Updates Archive page to the site where I will keep all the past site updates for you to see.

Not too much to update this week. The band has been touring down south and I talked with Percussionist Steve Pesich over the weekend who told me the shows were going well so far. Unfortunately, Steve was back home as his grandfather passed away last week and missed playing with the band for a few shows. I spoke with him at his grandfather's wake and Steve seemed in good spirits. Our thoughts and prayers are with their family of course.

I'm off to Atlanta this weekend and will be catching Groovatron at The Brandy House in Atlanta on Saturday night. I should have the setlist up on Monday and will likely write a show review next week when I get the time. If you are going to a show or have been to a show recently, please remember you can Submit A Review and I'm also looking for people who would be willing to e-mail me setlists after shows. If you can help out, please Tour Dates page that the band announced.

Sup everyone! Thanks for all the positive feedback on the web site. Good to know there are fellow Groovaddicts out there that enjoy the site. Well, the band is headed down south for the Southern tour starting tomorrow in Athens, GA. I talked with Nick before they left and I know the band is very excited to be heading back to the South. I should be getting some updated setlists soon from the band and once they get back from touring I'll probably hook up to get some more live shows to add to my list for trading.

I got some good news myself actually. I need to drive my car down to my parents place in Atlanta to try to sell it so I am going to be in town when they play The Brandy House on Saturday, 10/5 and will be attending the show there. I used to live right near there when I was living in Atlanta and it is one funky venue that is great for seeing good jam bands in Atlanta. I'm going to try and bring my camera equipment with to take some pictures at the show and put them up on the site. I'm also planning on taking some pics at the 10/18 show in Bloomington and the Halloween bash in sweet home Chicago!

I've been thinking about some ways to make the site better and I am toying with starting up an e-mail list for all us Groovaddicts to keep posted about shows and trading and such. I'm not sure what all the technical details are at this point to make something happen but if you have any suggestions let me know. For now, I'm going to add updates like this on the front page about once a week or so and eventually I will have an archive page set up with all the previous site update info.

Previous News Update 09/19/2002:

Welcome to Groovaddicts, a web site dedicated to promoting the Chicagoland areas best up and coming jam band Groovatron. My aim for the site is to keep fans posted about what's going on with the band, where they'll be touring, providing fellow Groovaddicts with a chance to review shows they've been to and see the setlists of other shows, and to start the spread of Groovatron's live performances via online trading.

I've currently obtained about 4-5 different Groovatron shows from the band and have hosted them on Furthurnet which is an online file sharing network that allows people to download live music. This is the only legal music sharing web site out there that I know of since they only allow live performances of bands that permit taping and trading of shows to be hosted there. You can see the Groovatron shows I have hosted on there by checking out the CD-R Trading page on this site.

I will set up to trade any Groovatron show via U.S. mail as well and am always happy to help people out by doing B&P trades. I only ask that when I do these trades that you do them for others as well in order to spread the music to as many people as possible!

I hope you enjoy the site and I will try to provide updates of the goings on of Groovatron as often as possible and will add the bands setlists as I get them. Please feel free to E-mail me if you have any suggestions for ways to improve this site. Below I have provided a brief overview of what each page on this site contains. Enjoy!

E-Mail Me if you have any suggestions for things to add to the site.
